A Curry Adventure: A Sonnet
by Max Pasakorn
bowls left out to rot, an unentitled charm
he messiahs forth courage, encroaching a pungent
smegma, pus, goo. Sheer force pushed the bewildered
into a finite action, a gulp of waft, betrothed to tongue
red and green, red and green, red and orange, red and orange
herb’s blood roiled through an unwilling mouth
felt it grin as it attacked a sickening gene
waits for it to settle: cool, calm, dispersed
juxtaposed to crisp wheat in bad cholesterol
crunches to sharp pain, needles to lesser evils
cracked lips tells him no more, no more
it entered vessels, bring forth dopamine
his mother asks him to take another mouthful
and he gladly does it again, and again, and again
